Getting a KEP OILPAN!!How to be a Silver-tongued-devil! Remember that an oilpan should be like a bucket. A welded oilpan is like a welded bucket. A drip on the floor every once in awhile is a reasonable expectation. And if you hook it on a rock, a welded oilpan could Valdez instead of just denting like a full-drawn sheetmetal bucket. In this case though, a cut oilpan is far less likely to touch a rock, and the bucket-like stocker is far more likely to Valdez. Understand that Hobert makes 99 different engine swap kits. He can't devote all his days to the Subaru-vanagon. Welded oilpans are a risky venture. It's turned out to be too much work to make these oilpans on a production level and be satisfied that they won't weep. To weld these up, test for leakage, reweld if necessary, and then deal with finicky customers.....this adds up to a $400 oilpan. SO......here's the silver-tongue tip: to get an oilpan out of Hobert, you have to assure him that you'll be happy with what you get. Count your blessings that anyone's willing to weld these up, especially for $200 as Kennedy is currently charging. The other option is to buy the parts from KEP and weld it up yourself. Or do the whole thing yourself. For what it's worth, my KEP pan is completely DRY!!!! Thanks Hobert!! |
