CycoActive's addendum to instructions
(VERSION 2 ALUMINUM)

Please note that there has been a design change in the powercord retainer. Instructions for the "NEW style version 3 stainless steel" retainer click here. For dimensions of mounting base click here.

When you're carrying a helmet, jacket, keys and whatever else, it's very convenient to be able to attach the GPS and power it with one hand.
The Touratech GPSIII mount holds the powercord in place, so when you snap the GPS into the mount, it engages vehicle power simultaneously. It works very well (same when you remove the GPS).

1) note spacer-nuts
Remove the two tiny nuts and the powercord retainer. Notice the two additional nuts below the retainer used as spacers. These spacer nuts have been glued in permanently by Touratech. (...very permanently!)

We advise that you attach the powercord before you bolt the mount to your motorcycle. If you try to do it on the motorcycle you'll drop those little nuts behind your fairing.

2) powercord retainer

Slide the machined aluminum retainer onto the Garmin (G10085) power cord as shown.

Notice that it's formed to fit the Garmin cord perfectly with the cord angling off at 45 degrees.

The tolerances are too tight to insert the cord AFTER the GPS is in the mount. Attempting to do so will damage your "power cord end" fairly quickly.

3) powercord retainer assembled

Attach the retainer & cord to the mount and tighten the tiny nuts. Due to the small size of the fasteners and tight tolerances we call it a "permanent installation". The system works so well, we recommend that you sacrifice a cord to the Touratech mount and buy a second power cord for the car.
If you prefer to attach the cord "manually" (each time you mount the GPS) you will have much difficulty. To insert the plug manually, you will need to enlarge the hole in the aluminum (use a round file).
