Sample data loads

Mapsource's Metroguide Software covers the entire USA. The USA is divided up into 7.5Mb to 8Mb "zones". These zones are pre-determined. You can't load a partial zone. So a 16Mb datacard will hold two Metroguide zones. A 32Mb datacard will hold four zones. A 128 Mb datacard will hold about 17 zones. There is a new 256Mb datacard, for SPIII and GPS276c ONLY. Roads and Recreation and Topo zones are usually 200-300K (small).

The USB card loader is essential for loading large cards. To load a 128Mb card thru the GPS will take 4 hours. With the Colormap, remember that you only have 3 hours of battery life. With the USB cardloader, 128MB takes 8 minutes.

For any GPS, it's adviseable to use fresh batteries when loading a datacard.
