| The StreetPilot has the same PhaseTrac12 operating system as the 12XL,
GPS III+ and and eMap. It has a basemap of North America which
includes all major highways and most secondary arterials. For more detail, you can load datacards with your PC using the "MetroGuide CD". The Metroguide CD has the entire USA. You can choose the areas you want, and load into your GPS. Then you'll have information such as restaurants, hotels, gas stations and including address and tel#. You can locate a destination by inputting the street address!
The screen is a lot bigger at 4", and the unit is 6.8" long. Volumewise it's twice as big as the GPSIII+ (it's about the size of a spray-paint can) and weighs 1 lb 4.5 oz. With 4 levels of grayscale, you can easily discern roads, lakes, rivers. Of course the ColorMap speaks for itself! |

Colormap or Greyscale? If your primary use of the StreetPilot is in a car, you'll like the ColorMap, because you can glance at the screen and the bright colors allow you to quickly discern roads, rivers, etc. Most motorcyclists prefer the Greyscale StreetPilot, if the primary use is to be outdoors. Also, the screen on the Greyscale Streetpilot is a little larger. |

| The StreetPilot comes with a PC cable, 12v cable and a very adjustable dashmount!
While not essential for use, the MOST significant accessory is a Garmin Metroguide CD and datacard (8, 16, 32 , 64, 128 MB). You can load any of the other MapSource products, but the the StreetPilot really comes alive with Metroguide. |
![]() This dashmount is included with the StreetPilot. Notice that the viewing angle is adjustable as shown by this image. The mount also swivels 360 degrees (in the horizontal plane) and has a button for quick-release. We like the RAM mounts. There is a suctioncup mount for your car, and one for handlebar of a motorcycle. See the streetpilot mounts. |
