Rino 120<-- -->Rino 110

We think the Rino will be an excellent GPS choice for woods riders. They arrived from Garmin on Nov 5 and we are currently testing.

Rino 110 is has no map backgound, only positions and tracks. See it here.

In this RINO 120 screen shot, YOU are the triangle at center-screen of the moving-map display. Each time JimXR or YZ400 or EX-C contacts you on the radio, they can press a button, and their current position appears on your map. You can see them following your same track from the cabin, but you won't see EX-Cs track. However if EX-C sends his position, you should see yourself approaching that point.

Ability to send and receive GPS information between the radios is within the limits of FRS band and strength (2 miles max, and generally must have line-of sight communication).

Photo above shows detail from the MapSource "USATopo" CD.

The RINO series is an FRS / GMRS RADIO and GPS with the same PhaseTrac12 operating system as the other modern Garmins. The radio has a range of about 2 miles line-of sight, which diminishes significantly in tree cover or mountainous terrain. You can talk to other FRS radios such as Motorola and others. RINO is the only FRS radio that's waterproof. But the most distinct GARMIN advantage is that if you're talking to a RINO user, your position will appear on the other Rinos whenever they receive your signal!!!

Rino 120 has a basemap of North America which includes all major highways and most secondary arterials. For more map detail, you can load the 8 Mb of on-board memory with your PC using mapSource software.

If you intend to mount the Rino on a (single-cylinder or twin) motorcycle.....click here. Battery stabilization (tape and dielectric grease) is required to mount the Rino on a dirtbike. Unless you plan to devise external power input, it's best to plan to carry the Rino on your body.

For more info see the GPS comparison page.
