The StreetPilot 2610 has the same PhaseTrac12 operating system as the all of the modern Garmins. It has a basemap of North America which includes all major highways and secondary arterials. And it includes a CD which allows you to load super-detail maps.

Just choose your destination using StreetPilot’s touch screen or remote control to be automatically guided with turn-by-turn directions and voice prompts. The 2610 and 2650 has built-in base maps, and everything needed to download additional map detail and look up points of interest and addresses in seconds.

Select maps and transfer data directly to the unit through a USB connection and onto a standard CompactFlash® memory card. The external speaker with 12/24-volt adapter cable and A/C power adapter is included with the package.

What do we KNOW about this new product?

1) It is WATERPROOF (1-meter submersion for 30 minutes)
2) We don't have a tested motorcycle mount yet (mid-November).
3) The input voltage is 12vDC (up to 24v)
4) It's incredibly fast (instant redraw)
5) There is no "jack" for sound output yet (a special output cable will be available ---TBD)
6) If you have a single-cylinder motorcycle please give us a few days to investigate whether this new GPS needs hardening.
7) The touch-screen works with gloves but a more concentrated contact works better.
8) Plan on loading the GPS twice the first time. The very first time you load a CF card thru the 2610 there is a "card formatting problem" that causes malfunctions. Load just one zone then re-load it a second time and it is fine thereafter.
