For emergency use, a front tube can be installed in the rear wheel. This allows you to keep riding while carrying the minimum necessary spare parts. A front tube in the rear should be exchanged for the proper size at the next opportunity. We've ridden 1000 dirt miles with a front tube installed in the rear, but your mileage may vary.
