Big, bright lights for adventures on dark roads. Piaa's 540 driving lamps feature Piaa's Xtreme White technology to create a very white, very bright light that is superbly focused on the road ahead (at about a 15 degree beam spread). These lights are an excellent addition to your R1100GS or R1150GS to light the way ahead on dark roads to make driving easier and safer. Piaa 540Ds are driving lights (not fogs) and as such they should only be used as auxillary lighting with the highbeam unless they are mounted to aim down (otherwise they can severely blind oncoming drivers, even in the daytime - they are that bright). For most effective lighting mount them to a lightbar focused slightly out to light the sides of the road far ahead where the pencil beam of the stock GS headlight doesn't illuminate. This will provide effective highbeam light coverage across all of the road ahead of you and afford early obersavation of animals or other hazards which might be lurking.
Piaa 540s come with a pre-assembled wiring harness and LED cockpit switch and can mount right onto our ZanZbar lightbar on the R1100GS or R1150GS (including Adventure). Lamps use Piaa Xtreme White 55w=110w H3 bulbs whose unique coating outputs the equivalent of 110w of light at 4150 kelvin (similar to HID brightness) but only uses 55 watts of power per lamp. Standards-based H3 bulbs can be replaced with any 55w H3 bulb purchased at any auto supply center if a burnout occurs far from home (for best performance use Piaa Xtreme White bulbs as replacements). Also includes Piaa brush grills to protect the lamps against branches, flying stones and other debris when riding offroad.
